Didactics prepared by: Christopher Reigelut — PhD, Associate Professor of Psychiatry, Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU, USA), specialist in child and adolescent psychotherapy, expert in the field of anxiety disorders, trauma and cognitive behavioral therapy.
🔹 We conducted an ECHO supervision session dedicated to the use of trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) in working with panic attacks, anxiety and somatic manifestations of stress 🔹
How to support a child or teenager who does not associate their symptoms with a traumatic past? What self-regulation practices help restore contact with the body, emotions and a sense of safety?
📌 During the session:
✔️ We reviewed a clinical case that demonstrated how TF-CBT can be adapted to the needs of a child who has experienced a traumatic experience
Christopher Reigelut shared proven practices for working with symptoms of panic, somatization, and avoidance
We discussed the difficulties professionals face when a client is unaware of or denies the impact of trauma on their current state
We focused on how to step by step help a person regain control over their life through techniques of emotional regulation, body stabilization, and building new narratives
This supervision has become a valuable support for psychologists, psychotherapists, crisis counselors, and other professionals working in the context of war trauma, chronic stress, and PTSD. We thank everyone for their active participation and shared commitment to deepening clinical expertise in an extremely important topic.
